Weather Notice: UNCSA to remain in Condition 2

Following Winter Storm Cora, the university will remain in Condition 2, Suspended Operations, until noon tomorrow, Sunday, Jan. 12. During this time, all activities on campus are canceled. One Card access will be disabled for all nonmandatory faculty and staff and nonresidential students and there will be no access to any buildings on campus.

The university will move to Condition 1, Reduced Operations at noon on Sunday, Jan. 12 through 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14. While the university will be open to support student move-in on Sunday, we encourage all other activities on campus to be canceled to allow Facilities to focus on residential areas. Access to buildings will stay in a controlled state, and doors that are normally unlocked will be card-accessible only. As some services or activities may be limited, please check back for more information. If you have questions about activities scheduled for your arts school or department, please contact your dean or supervisor.

UNCSA’s Adverse Weather Regulation provides guidance for employees and students when adverse weather conditions impact normal operations. Please be aware that some slick conditions may remain on campus as temperatures will not rise much above freezing during the weekend. You are advised to use your best judgment and err on the side of caution when making any travel decisions.

Weather Notice: Condition 2, Suspended Operations, at 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10

UNCSA officials are closely monitoring the approach of Winter Storm Cora. Currently, our area is under a Winter Storm Watch. Weather forecasts show Winston-Salem could receive 1-3 inches of snow and ice with precipitation beginning Friday afternoon, Jan 10.

To allow faculty and staff the time to travel safely, the university will move to Condition 2 – Suspended Operations at 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10. During this time, all activities on campus are canceled. One Card access will be disabled for all nonmandatory faculty and staff and nonresidential students and there will be no access to any buildings on campus. Please plan accordingly. If you have questions about activities scheduled for your arts school or department, please contact your dean or supervisor.

At this time, spring semester move-in is still scheduled for noon Sunday, Jan. 12.

UNCSA officials will reassess the weather situation early Saturday, Jan. 11, and an update will be provided to campus by 9 a.m. Saturday. Please watch for campus communications via UNCSA Alert, a red bar that will appear on the UNCSA home page, on the university’s Facebook and X (Twitter) platforms, and on local TV outlets. The operating status of campus is always available on our status page.

UNCSA’s Adverse Weather Regulation provides guidance for employees and students when adverse weather conditions impact normal operations. Our decisions will always be made with the safety of the campus community in mind. Similarly, we ask that you please use your best judgment and err on the side of caution when making any travel decisions.
