School of Design & Production

School of Design & Production

One of the top theatrical design and production schools in the world, the School of Design & Production at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts delivers a profoundly creative, hands-on immersion in the behind-the-scenes magic of live theatre. Some schools bundle design and production courses under a generalist Theatre Studies degree. When you attend UNCSA, you get a stand-alone design & production conservatory dedicated to rigorous professional training in every aspect of modern stagecraft: costume design and technology, wig and makeup design, scene design, sound design, stage management and more. Gain invaluable experience working on countless UNCSA productions a year — from ballet to opera to theatre — inside 100,000 square feet of state-of-the-art production space. Here you will learn to build the future of entertainment.
