Adult Ballet
Adult ballet at UNCSA is a wonderful way to experience the art of classical ballet for both the novice or the experienced adult dancer. Enjoy the benefits of building a ballet practice–strength, flexibility, and balance in a safe environment with experienced instructors and state of the art facilities. All instructors progress the class incrementally building on previous knowledge and body mechanics. No prior experience is required to get started with Adult Ballet.
Beginner I Adult Ballet
Beginner I Adult Ballet is designed for dancers aged 16 and older to give a foundational understanding of ballet vocabulary and body mechanics for the steps. The class is appropriate for those that have never taken ballet before, have minimal dance experience, want to strengthen their foundational knowledge, or have studied dance previously and are returning after years away from the art form. Students will learn basic ballet steps from Level 1 of the American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum.
Prior Experience is not required.

Beginner II Adult Ballet
Beginner II Adult Ballet is designed for dancers aged 16 and older with a foundational understanding of ballet vocabulary and body mechanics for the steps. The class is appropriate for those that have taken introductory ballet classes or have studied dance intensively previously and are returning after years away from the art form. Students will progress to ballet steps from Level 2 of the American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum. This class is a bridge to the concepts needed for Intermediate Adult Ballet.
Prior Experience is required. Two to three semesters of Intro to Ballet is recommended.

Intermediate Adult Ballet
Intermediate Adult Ballet is designed for experienced dancers aged 16 and older to build on the information learned in Intro and Advanced Beginner Ballet. This class introduces more complex movements and combinations of steps while still strengthening foundational technique. Students that have taken several semesters of Advanced Beginner Ballet or have extensive former experience are encouraged to progress to Intermediate Ballet. Students will learn ballet steps from Levels 3 through 4 of the American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum with options for differentiated learning according to experience level.
Prior ballet experience with a strong understanding of ballet basics and alignment are required.

Open Beginner/Intermediate Adult Ballet Summer Intensive
Two one-week intensives include Progressing Ballet Technique and Beginner/Intermediate Ballet. The ballet class will be divided into options for both beginning and intermediate students and Progressing Ballet Technique conditioning classes will facilitate dancers at all levels building the strength and bodily knowledge for safe ballet study.

Monday - Thursday 6:00 p..m. - 7:15 p.m.
No audition required.
July 22 - 25 and July 29 - August 1
Tuition: $90 per week
Registration for both weeks is strongly encouraged.
Dress Code for Adult Classes
Adult dancers are welcome to wear standard leotard, tights and skirts/warm-ups or form-fitting athletic attire such as t-shirt and leggings/yoga pants. Dancers should be able to move easily in their attire. Socks are permitted, but soft ballet shoes are strongly recommended for form and safety.
