News & Promotion Guidelines
The Strategic Communications Division is the principal liaison with the news media.
Did media contact you?
Direct news media requesting information or comments to the Media Manager. The Media Manager is a resource for you and will not impede employees' or students' rights to free speech. The Media Manager:
- provides the best method and response content
- confers with University Counsel, if needed
- suggests more people who can speak for the University
Want media coverage?
To publicize a university activity or achievement, contact the Media Manager. For
University matters, inform the Media Manager before contacting the news media. The
Media Manager or Vice Chancellor of Strategic Communications determines consent. Stories
need to promote the mission, vision and strategic goals of the University. There are
several ways to tell a story. Strategic Communications offers distribution methods:
press releases, social media posts or web features. Another method is news tips or
advisories to media outlets.
Promoting your performance
Strategic Communications handles performance marketing and advertising purchases for
the University. Advertisements may be for print, signage and media (digital, social,
television, radio).
Photo and Video Support
Strategic Communications documents performances for archival purposes and marketing
usage. Photography and videography freelancers capture campus performances and events.

Recruitment and Institutional promotion
Strategic Communications oversees the UNCSA brand and recruitment materials. The division
handles design, content and distribution of official university publications. UNCSA
Magazine, Performance marketing, commencement programs, recruitment materials is what
they do. Identity standards, logo and seal usage, typefaces, color palettes and design
templates.
All printing and advertising materials must follow the UNCSA brand guidelines. Consistency in branding is key to having a logo or style distinguished as UNCSA.
Strategic Communications gives final approval of projects produced outside of the
division. Approval ensure standards meet clarity, accuracy and efficiency.
