Janet B. Royster Scholarship

Permanent, full-time staff members can apply for Janet B. Royster Memorial Staff Scholarships, which provide up to $500 per academic year for assistance in obtaining a degree or certification to advance career goals. The scholarship can be applied to the cost of tuition, fees, books, or registration fees. Payment will be made directly to the school, provider, or vendor.

Eligibility and selection criteria, and the application process is on the UNC System Staff Assembly website. Application period begins on Aug. 15 and runs through Sept. 30 of each year.

Scholarship Information & Application

The Janet B. Royster (JBR) Memorial Staff Scholarship Fund was created in August 2011 by the UNC Staff Assembly in memory of UNC-TV employee Janet B. Royster. Janet represented UNC-TV on the General Administration Staff Forum and was subsequently elected to the UNC Staff Assembly. She served as its first parliamentarian until her death in June 2011.
