Margaret Wilsch was born in Upstate New York where she was raised in both Rochester and Syracuse. Beginning dance at age three, Margaret was primarily trained at the Timothy M. Draper Center for Dance Education where she studied both ballet and modern. Transitioning to online school in her junior year, she was accepted into New York State Ballet as a trainee under the guidance of Robert Royce. After a year with NYSB, Margaret was fortunate enough to join Frazee Feet Dance as a company member performing regionally while finishing her high school education.
Now in her fourth year at UNCSA, Margaret is working to receive a B.F.A. in Contemporary Dance as well as a Minor in Arts Entrepreneurship. While at the school Margaret’s studies have allowed her to train in Cunningham, Limón, Alexander, and Countertechnique as well as given her the opportunity to work with choreographers such as Amyia Burrell, Andrew Harper, Anthony Lee Bryant, Ming-Lung Yang, Gina Patterson, Kira Blazek-Ziaii and Ashley Lindsey.
Additionally, she has learned repertoire of José Limón, Trisha Brown, and Alvin Ailey, having performed Robert Battle’s "Mass" set by Elisa Clark. When not at school Margaret has furthered her arts education by studying at Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Alonso King LINES Ballet, NW Dance Project, Paul Taylor Dance Company, and most recently at SHARE The Dance Intensive in Paris, France. Upon graduating in Spring of 2024 Margaret hopes to pursue her dream of dancing internationally while also using her arts administration knowledge to help create sustainable dance environments.
