Mack Longley, originally from Southington, Connecticut started their dance training at the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts during their high school years. She was introduced to dance there, studying under Jeanne and Thomas Giroir, Linda Burns and Kim Stroud. Their education at GHAA included Cunningham, Vaganova, Cecchetti Ballet, Graham and Laban/Bartenieff techniques.
Mack is currently a senior at UNCSA and in the spring will receive a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree majoring in Contemporary Dance and minoring in Arts Entrepreneurship. Their dance education at UNCSA has included training in Cunningham, West African, Limón and CounterTechnique. Mack is also working for UNCSA ArtsitCorps, which is a community engagement organization that provides arts instruction, integration, and exposure to K-12 students and senior citizens in the Winston-Salem community.
Throughout their dance journey, they’ve had the privilege to perform works by Merce Cunningham, Alwin Nikolais, Stephen Pier, Fredrick Earl Mosley, Jose Limón, Ming Lang-Yung, Andrew Harper and David Dorfman. Mack has a passion for social justice dance theater and has interned with the Justice Dance Performance Project based in Hartford, Connecticut under the artistic director and founder Judy Dworin. She hopes to continue her dance career post-graduation through performance, choreography and community arts education and curation.
