Hanna Le is a second-year student in the School of Filmmaking with plans to specialize in cinematography. She was mostly raised in Dallas, TX, where she worked as a freelance videographer during her high school years, but she moved to Winston-Salem last year right before starting college at UNCSA and has been really enjoying it so far. She loves boba tea, competing in taekwondo, and creating videos for her YouTube channel in addition to working on new film projects. She has absolutely loved the opportunities and experience she’s had at UNCSA and can’t wait to share that with prospective students!
What brought you to UNCSA?
I applied to a dozen of the top film schools, but UNCSA really stood out to me because we’re an arts conservatory so our students get much more experience working with the equipment and creating films - even from their very first day here! I did a lot of research on the program, our professors, and the resources we have for our students then compared those to the other schools I applied to. It became clear to me that the program at UNCSA was unmatched for the kind of rigorous hands-on production experience that I was looking for, and it was absolutely the best decision I could’ve made!
Why did you want to become an ambassador?
I know that the college application and decision process can feel very overwhelming and stressful, and it can be difficult to get an in-depth understanding of each college’s program and environment before you commit to one. Going to UNCSA was the perfect decision for me, and I couldn’t have made that decision without the help of the student ambassadors here. I reached out and got important questions answered that wouldn’t be on the website, learned more about life at UNCSA, heard about the incredible opportunities they’ve had so far, and even got to shadow one of the cinematography classes after my tour! The student ambassadors were so kind and helpful, and I knew I wanted to become an ambassador so that I could do the same for our future students!
