Grace Bethune is from Greensboro, N.C., and began her early training as a competitive dancer at Greensboro Dance Theatre training in many commercial styles including jazz, hip hop, tap, musical theater and contemporary dance. In 2020, Grace was accepted and decided to continue her dance education at UNCSA.
In her time at UNCSA, she has performed repertory pieces of José Limón, Robert Battle, and Shen Wei, as well as original works by choreographers including Ming-Lung Yang, Andrew Harper, Gina Patterson, Anthony Lee Bryant, and Ashley Lindsey. In 2022, she had the chance to be involved in the creation of a short dance film, "Shellbreaker," choreographed by Dani Rowe and directed by Garen Scribner. Through the process, she explored new skills including acting and dancing for film.
Her summers have extended her dance training and exploration, dancing at intensives and workshops with SHARE The Dance Intensive, b12 - The Festival for Contemporary Dance and Performance Art with Jos Baker and Baye & Asa, Staibdance, NW Dance Project, and Sarasota Contemporary Dance. As she approaches graduation in 2024 with a B.F.A. in Contemporary Dance and a Minor in Arts Entrepreneurship, Grace is eager and curious about new experiences and movement languages, and is focused on growing as a dancer, teacher and art maker.
