Darby McDonough was raised in a small town in Illinois. She’s been a huge fan of performing ever since she was three years old singing “Complicated” by Avril Lavigne at family parties. Her dreams became much more serious when she joined the High School Drama Program at UNCSA. Darby is so grateful to be a part of the Class of 2022, and to have called this creative haven her home for the past five years.
While at UNCSA, she has performed in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” directed by Cameron Knight, “Henry V” (a radioplay) directed by Sara Becker and “Neaptide” directed by Ticket Knowlton. She’s been in multiple projects in collaboration with the School of Filmmaking, and is looking forward to exploring her passion for on-camera work even more. Some of her upcoming roles include #25 in “The Wolves” directed by Sarah Hankins and Queen Marie in “Exit the King” directed by Parker Robertson. In her free time, Darby loves thrift shopping, exploring nature and gluten-free baking.
Upcoming Projects:
- “Polecat” (feature film) directed by Hayley Vinson
- “Scotch” (UNCSA fourth-year film) directed by Joe Fry
