Ashtyn Babb was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and grew up in Fort Worth, Texas where she studied dance at Epicenter for the Arts under director, Michelle Brogan. While training at Epicenter for the Arts, Ashtyn received the opportunity to travel with Dance Revolution National Dance Convention where she performed and assisted classes in styles such as Jazz, Contemporary Fusion, Dance on Camera, Hip Hop, and Tribal Funk.
In 2020, she was accepted into the esteemed B.F.A. program at UNCSA for Contemporary Dance. Since attending UNCSA, her love of dance has only grown. Through her training, she has performed repertory by Trisha Brown, José Limón, and Robert Battle, in addition to many new works by choreographers such as Amyia Burrell, Ashley Lindsey, Kira Blazek-Ziaii, Andrew Harper, Anthony Lee Bryant, Wesley Williams, Ranko Bogosavac, and Ming-Lung Yang.
During this time, Ashtyn has further developed a passion for movement invention, choreography, and health and wellness. In 2022, she earned her certification as a Classical Pilates Mat Instructor and has been teaching Pilates ever since. Most recently, Ashtyn studied dance in Europe at Orsolina 28 with Jacob Jonas the Company and b12 Festival for Contemporary Dance and Performance Art with Tamara Gvosdenovic and Jos Baker. Her vision as an artist is to inspire and cultivate hope, creativity, and connection within communities across the globe, specifically through the art of dance. Upon graduation in 2024 with a B.F.A. in Contemporary Dance and a Minor in Arts Entrepreneurship, Ashtyn hopes to pursue dance professionally while simultaneously investigating how to use art for change.
