“The appointment of our first vice provost for enrollment management is a significant and timely step forward for our university,” said Chancellor Cole. “In today’s rapidly evolving higher education landscape, it is more important than ever to take a strategic, data-informed approach to enrollment.
“I am confident that David brings a deep understanding of the unique needs of artistic, creative and innovative students. That, paired with a proven track record of results in enrollment management at leading art and design institutions, makes him the perfect fit for this new role at UNCSA.”
The newly created position is focused on developing and implementing a comprehensive
vision and strategy for recruitment at high school, undergraduate and graduate levels.
Formerly reporting to the provost, the offices of Admissions, Financial Aid and the
Registrar will now report to the vice provost for enrollment management, who will
be responsible for the overall strategy that unites the front-facing elements in admissions
with critical partnerships across the three areas, strategic communications and IT.
Sigman’s first day will be May 1, and he will report to Executive Vice Chancellor
and Provost Patrick J. Sims.
"I am honored to be joining the University of North Carolina School of the Arts as the vice provost for enrollment management,” Sigman said. “UNCSA is truly an unparalleled institution: the first public arts conservatory in the country and a nationally recognized educational home for aspiring creatives across the high school, undergraduate and master's levels. As an enrollment professional and lifelong advocate for arts education, I cannot think of a more exciting place to be. I am thrilled to join the community and build great things together!"
With more than 15 years of progressive experience in higher education, David Sigman has proven to be a thoughtful and dynamic manager, a creative problem solver, and an advocate for the transformative relationships fostered between educators and students. Dedicated to empowering and nurturing the next generation of creative leaders, Sigman has served as a National Portfolio Day Association board member and National Art Honors Society juror.
Committed to institution-wide collaboration, Sigman led a period of unprecedented growth at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design, increasing new student enrollment by 68% while enhancing academic preparedness and student retention. These achievements were supported by innovative recruitment programming, expanded on-campus events, the introduction of an alumni recruitment initiative, and close partnerships with faculty and staff.
He continued his work at the Cleveland Institute of Art, where he modernized recruitment, financial aid and marketing strategies. He also established the college’s first Office of Enrollment Marketing.
Sigman received his Bachelor of Fine Arts (magna cum laude) from the University of Pennsylvania.
The search for the vice provost for enrollment management at UNCSA generated nearly 40 candidates from across the nation.
