Ryan Douglass is a scenic designer with a background in music and directing. He has been an educator at the secondary and collegiate levels since 2010. He specializes in the 3D digital design process and ways to bring the scene design profession into the modern tech landscape. He has a passion for new gadgets and themed entertainment.

In his classroom, Douglass combines the traditional ideas of scene design with cutting-edge technology to modernize the scene design process and allow faster and more accurate design work. By utilizing digital design tools, his students bring their worlds of visual storytelling to life. 

I strive to help each student discover their creative process, allowing them to be creative, confident and collaborative artists for the rest of their lives.

Career Highlights

  • As associate designer to Milagros Ponce de Léon, worked in regional theatres across the country, especially in Washington D.C., including premier performances of original work at Ford's Theatre. 
  • Working with Milagros, is premiering two new Musicals for Disney Cruise Line on their next two new cruise ships.
  • Worked for four years at The MUNY in St. Louis, including designing "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical" to open the 2023 Season.
