Johnathan Stowe

Johnathan Stowe has served in various spaces including education and community activism. He has taught mathematics for a total of 15 years at Guilford Technical Community College, Atkins High School, Carver High School and Paisley Magnet School. He also served as the Head Men's Varsity Basketball Coach at Carver High from 2019-22.

In 2019, Stowe revived and spearheaded the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Carver High, which included weekly bible study sessions and prayer vigils on the school's campus. In 2020, he was elected as Chaplain of the N.C. A&T State University Twin City Alumni Chapter. Stowe also volunteers with the Rally Up Winston-Salem organization to help reverse the increase of senseless violence in the Winston-Salem community.

I utilize a strong passion for Mathematics to motivate and inspire students, creating a fun and challenging learning environment.

Career Highlights

• Helped create and implement modularized instruction mode of delivery in the content area of pre-curriculum mathematics specific to Guilford Technical Community College, which was replicated by various community colleges in the U.S.
• Presented at the 2014 North Carolina Community College System Conference in Raleigh, NC in the area of common core mathematics and its effect on pre-curriculum mathematics and community colleges at large.
• Presented at the 2018 Large District Math Collaborative in Charlotte, NC in the Conceptual Understanding Strand
• Presented at the 2019 North Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCCTM) Conference in Greensboro in the area of “Meeting Digital Competencies in High Need High School Mathematics.”
