Bethany Anne Kibler is an Assistant Professor of Humanities at UNCSA, and a Social Anthropologist focusing on the U.S. Military, the contemporary Middle East, and Gender & Sexuality studies. She has degrees from Harvard University, the Defense Language Institute, and Pomona College.
Kibler believes the college classroom should be a space of intense difficulty and expansive humanity. She asks her students to think deeply, read complex texts, and grapple with new modes and possibilities of expression. At the same time, she works to ensure each class is a novel creation — a space made by and for the unique individuals who populate it.
I strive to meet each student where they are, to create conditions of both safety and freedom in the classroom, and to help each student find the most exhilarating, rewarding, and productive path forward.
