Introducing High School Wellness Counselor Rashaad Nelson

High School Life is delighted to announce the newest addition to our team, Rashaad Nelson, who will be serving as the High School Wellness Counselor. Rashaad brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to supporting the well-being of our UNCSA community.

Originally from Dayton, Ohio, Rashaad has made North Carolina his home for over 15 years. He holds a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Therapeutic Recreation from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He is a proud, active and licensed counselor with extensive experience in fostering resilience and growth among students.
 
Throughout his career, Rashaad has served in diverse community and educational settings, where he developed systems to support underserved and marginalized individuals. His professional journey includes roles such as a student success coach, where he utilized social-emotional concepts to promote both academic achievement and personal development among adolescents and children.
 
Outside of his professional life, Rashaad enjoys roller skating, playing video games and listening to music. He cherishes spending quality time with his wife and son, whether exploring outdoor activities, indulging in their shared love of Dippin’ Dots, or enjoying cozy family nights at home.
