Dining with Sodexo
Starting Aug. 1, 2024, UNCSA proudly began a new partnership with Sodexo, a leader in food and facilities management for schools, colleges and universities across the U.S. Rebranding and revamping campus dining facilities began the initial phase from Aug. 1-7.
On Aug. 8, the dining hall, convenience stores and Studio Brew (formerly Library Café) opened and Sodexo began providing dining and catering to serve UNCSA students, faculty and staff. Sodexo welcomed 38 former Aramark employees who will remain core members of the UNCSA dining community.

Upgrades and Renovations
From The Pickle Jar refresh to upgrades at the coffee shop to two new convenience stores, Sodexo is bringing exciting renovations to UNCSA.
The Pickle Jar
During the fall 2024 semester, The Pickle Jar will be closed for renovations. It will be upgraded to include a state-of-the-art ghost kitchen and Freshens, which will serve made-to-order smoothies, rice bowls, grilled flatbreads, salads and more.
While The Pickle Jar is under renovation, the dining hall will offer two late-night stations featuring Pickle Jar favorites like poke bowls and burgers. Diners will be able to purchase items at these stations using meal exchange or Bonus Bucks. The grand reopening of The Pickle Jar is set for the beginning of spring semester 2025.
Hours of operation: During the fall 2024 semester, the late-night dining hall stations will be open Monday to Friday from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturday to Sunday from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Studio Brew
Sodexo will further improve on-campus offerings by upgrading Studio Brew to a “We Proudly Serve Starbucks” location. Alongside well-loved Starbucks classics, the coffee shop will offer grab & go items such as sandwiches, salads and desserts from Simply To Go. Healthy, fresh-made juices brought in daily from Village Juice will also be available.
Hours of operation: Monday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to midnight and Friday from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Studio Brew will now also be open on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sundays from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Food Hive
Food Hive is a convenient community market that proudly features local and small business items alongside daily essentials, grab & go meals, and convenience classics. With locations at Hanes Student Commons and Artist Village, Food Hive will replace POD Market to ensure students, faculty, and staff are able to get exactly what they need, exactly when they need it.
Hanes hours of operation: The Hanes Food Hive will be open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Artist Village hours of operation: The Artist Village Food Hive will be open 24 hours and closed during school breaks.
The Perks of Dining With Sodexo
Sodexo will offer faculty and staff complementary meals, meal plans, mobile ordering, allergen-friendly dining and more.
Complementary Meals
Beginning Aug. 15, each permanent faculty and staff member will receive a weekly complementary entry into the dining hall. This meal will be pre-loaded onto your One Card and available when needed. Any new faculty or staff members who begin their UNCSA careers later in the semester will also receive this perk. However, complimentary meals do not roll over if not used within the week.
Block Meal Plans
Faculty and staff interested in purchasing block meal plans are invited to join us at The Pickle Jar on select days until Aug. 19. Sodexo offers block meal plans ranging from five to 50 meals per semester. For any modifications to residential meal plans, please email Auxiliary Services at auxiliaryinbox@uncsa.edu.

Mobile Ordering and Award-Winning Menus
UNCSA’s partnership with Sodexo promises to boost accessibility and flexibility by introducing mobile ordering through Sodexo’s Everyday app. Features include ordering ahead, scheduling a pickup or delivery, contactless payment, and more.
Additionally, the enhanced dining program will cater specifically to artists' needs with specialized menus and Sodexo’s award-winning Simple Servings program, allowing those with allergies and dietary preferences to enjoy worry-free campus dining.
Why Sodexo Is Right for the UNCSA Community
“Collaboration is essential to artistic endeavors, and Sodexo has pledged to uphold this value through their dining and catering services here at UNCSA,” said Wendy Emerson, Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration. This collaborative effort is a marathon, not a sprint, and we thank you for your patience during this process.
As UNCSA transitions to Sodexo, you’ll continue to see the friendly faces who have been part of our dining community for years and meet new frontline employees who are excited to serve our campus. Leading this eager team is Martha Jackson, Sodexo GM, who is dedicated to providing accessible, flexible, and healthy dining options for student artists as they pursue their passions.
