Ron Weiss

Ron Weiss is an international theatre maker, performer, musician and creative researcher. Their work is not defined by a medium, but rather by an intention to further the thinking of the industry, in terms of process and performance. Ron is consistently interested in the exploration of new techniques and technologies in this art form, which has led to a deep fascination for immersive work, in and outside the traditional theater building.

Having grown up as an actor, they began their training as a Director at UNCSA honing their skills over four years of B.F.A. training. Their international experience is a big part of their artistry. Not only forcing them to explore what their ties to Israel mean for themself, but allowing them the opportunity to always “go where the work is warm.”

They have produced several of their own productions, including a sold-out series of short plays entitled "The Occupation Project: Plays From Ukraine, written by members of YoungPlaywrightsUkraine and performed at the historic Jaffa Theatre, Israel’s prime Arab-Hebrew theatre. They have also conceived several immersive experiences, specifically exploring a form of epic theatre that places a single audience member as the hero of the story.

Ron’s upcoming directing works include: Hilloween NC Haunted Schoolhouse, boom by Peter Sinn Nachtrieb, and "Frankie and Johnny in the Clair De Lune" by Terrence McNally produced on the mainstage at the UNCSA Patrons Theatre.

Ron can make a mean bespoke cocktail. Their artistry grows hand in hand with their mixology. Homemade ingredients, in the bar and in the theatre.
