Diego Vazquez Gomez is an actor, singer, poet and armchair psychologist hailing from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. A queer, Mexican immigrant and artist, Diego has always identified as an outsider and is passionate about bringing light to the unique perspectives he’s encountered throughout his life.
Diego grew up belting Mexican oldies and charming strangers into giving him their food, so naturally, he found acting and musical theater and has never looked back. He loves singing, making new friends on the street, dissertating on queer and sociopolitical themes, and using storytelling to unite strangers and kickstart healing. He is currently completing his final year at UNCSA, where he is pursuing his B.F.A. in Acting.
Diego hopes that their artistry serves to amplify vulnerable listening and understanding in a time where exclusion is the norm. He is obsessed with expressing new ideas through his own work or finding like-minded artists to support and collaborate with. Diego can also be found cooking, dance-partying downtown, and writing absurdist poetry to scratch those hearty creative itches.
Diego’s latest credits at UNCSA include Cousin Julio in "The Motherfucker" with the Hat, Adolfo Pirelli in "Sweeney Todd," the King of France and Lavatch in "All’s Well that Ends Well," and Beleaguered Geek in "Heathers the Musical." Upcoming credits include Caden in "All the People We Know," (a new work by Class of ’23 co-grad, Ruby Westhoff) and "Witch" by Jen Silverman, which Diego is directing and producing.
