Daniel Peña Cruz is a native of Colombia, a South American country full of beauty and biodiversity which taught him to use art for the service of the community. He is currently pursuing his master's degree in flute performance at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts under the instruction of Dr. Tadeu Coelho.
Daniel is the winner of top prizes at the International Flute Workshop in the Colombian Southwest and the International Flute Festival in Sopó, Colombia. He has performed in concert with the Javeriana Symphony Orchestra, the Colombia-France Binational Symphony Orchestra, the Bogotá Youth Philharmonic Band, the UNCSA Symphony Orchestra, UNCSA chamber ensembles, and in recitals.
He enjoys nurturing the next generation of young performers through teaching, mentoring, and sharing the rich culture of his native country. Daniel earned his B.M. in 2022 at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, where he studied with Rafael Rodriguez.
