UNCSA alumna nominated for Golden Globe Award

An alumna of the School of Dance at UNCSA has been nominated for a 2025 Golden Globe Award. High School Dance alumna Margaret Qualley is nominated in the best performance by a female actor in a supporting role in any motion picture category for her role as Sue in the Mubi film “The Substance.”

The film, which also stars Demi Moore, is nominated in five categories including best motion picture, best screenplay, best director and best performance by a female actor. The nominations for each of the 27 award categories were announced this morning in a livestream hosted by actors Mindy Kaling and Morris Chestnut.

Qualley, who also stars in another nominated production this year, “Kinds of Kindness,” was nominated for a Golden Globe award in 2022 for her role in the Netflix mini-series “Maid.”

The awards ceremony will air live on CBS and stream on Paramount+ at 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, 2025.
