“Die Fledermaus” – Feb. 7 & 9

A.J. Fletcher Opera Institute Music Director James Allbritten conducts the comic operetta “Die Fledermaus” (“The Bat”), with stage direction by Fletcher Artistic Director Steven LaCosse. Composed by Johann Strauss II with a libretto by Karl Haffner and Richard Genée, the operetta is based on “Le Réveillon” by Henri Meilhac and Ludovic Halévy. This production is reimagined from its traditional New Year’s Eve setting to a glamorous Valentine’s Day in the years before World War I, a time of joy and celebration. Costumes will reflect the refined elegance of Edwardian-era fashion, featuring tailored suits, opulent gowns and intricate accessories that highlight the sophistication of the period. The second act transforms into a dazzling Valentine’s Day ball, adorned with hearts, cupid, and festive décor, perfectly capturing the romantic spirit of the holiday and pairing laughter and romance with sparkling wit and infectious charm. The performance will take place Friday, Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 9 at 2 p.m. at the High Point Theatre, 220 E Commerce Ave., High Point.

Canadian Brass – Feb. 16

The School of Music presents the world-renowned Canadian Brass. Known for their engaging stage presence and exceptional musicianship, the ensemble performs a diverse repertoire ranging from Baroque masterpieces to contemporary compositions and arrangements created specifically for them, combining spontaneity, virtuosity and entertainment in every performance. Winter Dance – Feb. 20-23

The School of Dance presents an extraordinary program featuring works by five iconic choreographers: Martha Graham, Pascal Rioult, Jose Limón, George Balanchine and Arthur Saint-Léon. The performance includes Graham’s "Dark Meadow Suite," drawn from her 1946 masterpiece and presented during the Martha Graham Dance Company’s ongoing 100th anniversary celebration, as well as Rioult’s reimagining of Maurice Ravel’s "Bolero." Also featured is Limón’s "PSALM," inspired by the Jewish story of “The Righteous,” along with Balanchine’s "Concerto Barocco," staged by High School Ballet alumna Amanda Edge and set to Johann Sebastian Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins in D Minor. Faculty members Mikhail Tchoupakov, Jennet Zerbe, and April Ball Sultana restage Saint-Léon’s "Coppélia Suite," set to Léo Delibes’ music, and Dean Endalyn T. Outlaw premieres an original contemporary work in an unforgettable evening that bridges history, innovation and artistry. Performances will take place on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, Feb. 21 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 22 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. in Freedman Theatre on the UNCSA campus, 1533 South Main St.
