The Composition program at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts is dedicated to giving you the tools and opportunities you need to develop your musical language. Guest Ensembles

Latitude 49

The cutting-edge new music ensemble comes in April for a concert of music by Gity Razaz, Juri Seo and Jared Miller, as well as a recording session of compositions by Quinn Albinus, Erin Giuliano, Andrew MacFarland, David Mailman and Jasil Olabode.

InterColor

The Parisian trio with the unusual scoring of soprano/bassclarinet, violin/viola and cimbalom here in February to record music by Barrett Bailey, Victoria King, Hannah Mufuka and Magnus Myers.  

Winston-Salem Symphony

The Winston-Salem Symphony chooses a winner of their annual competition for UNCSA student composers for a professional premiere in March.


Performance Faculty Projects

Reynolda String Quartet 

Resident string quartet records music by Peien Ai and Jacob Burnette in April.

Marimba/Vibraphone

Faculty artist Ksenija Komljenovic records compositions by Beth Anderson, Sam Darnell, Joshua Dellinger, Ashton Latimer, Hunter Levin and Edan Love.

Horn, bassoon and piano

Faculty artists Maria Serkin, Stephanie Patterson and Allison Gagnon sponsor a competition for student composers, resulting in a premiere in February.


Student Ensembles

UNCSA Symphony Orchestra

Music by Peien Ai, Quinn Albinus, Jacob Burnette, Andrew MacFarland and Jasil Olabode premiered on the orchestra's end-of-the-year concert in May..

UNCSA Wind Ensemble

Music by Jasil Olabode and David Mailman featured on the October and April concerts.

Clarinet Ensemble

Spring performance includes music by Sam Darnell, Joshua Dellinger, Hunter Levin and Magnus Myers.

Viola Ensemble

Spring performance includes music by Barrett Bailey and Ashton Latimer.

Cello Ensemble

Spring performance includes music by Beth Anderson, Victoria King and Edan Love.
