"Luna Gale" premiered in 2014 at Chicago's Goodman Theatre. Award-winning playwright Rebecca Gilman takes us into the world of Caroline, an Iowa social worker who is overwhelmed by an impossibly large case load created by ongoing budget cuts to the state's Department of Human Services. Nonetheless, she continues to try to do what's best for her clients. The play shines a light on the challenges faced by an underfunded social welfare system, stressed to the limits, as it copes with its mission of taking care of vulnerable children.
