On-campus stream restoration project begins this spring

A small stream meanders under a bridge surrounded by dirt and vegetation. UNCSA is launching an exciting restoration project for our on-campus stream, affectionately known as "Kudzu Valley."

The goal: restore the stream’s natural beauty while improving its environmental health by controlling erosion, replanting native greenery, clearing out invasive species and improving the natural flow of the water.

Starting this month, you may notice vehicles and survey teams along the stream banks and surrounding areas, which are there to survey existing conditions during the planning and design phase of the project. Construction is expected to begin fall 2026, with efforts made to schedule major work outside of the standard academic year when possible.

We will keep our campus and neighbors informed as the project progresses. This is a first step toward revitalizing the area, and we look forward to seeing it flourish for years to come!
