High School Dance Admissions

UNCSA School of Dance offers high school programs for students with concentrations in Ballet (for grades 9-12) and Contemporary Dance (for grades 10-12). The application process includes an online application, required documents, and an audition.

Audition Information

Applicants may choose either an On-campus Audition or a Video Audition.

On-campus Audition

To schedule an On-campus Audition, candidates must submit an application, their transcript(s) and the application fee in time for a deadline. All required application documents must be uploaded no later than two (2) weeks prior to a scheduled on-campus audition. Candidates who upload video will be considered Video Audition applicants and not receive information on how to schedule an in-person audition. To avoid this, do not upload video if you intend to audition in person on campus.

Video Audition

To submit a Video Audition, candidates must submit the application, required application documents, video audition and the application fee in time for a deadline.

Admission into the School of Dance is based on a combination of artistic and academic merits.

Admissions Criteria

GPA & Academic Requirements

Applicants should have a minimum unweighted GPA of 2.3 (C+), no more than one failing grade in the previous year's work and no more than two failing grades in their overall coursework.

Completed Application, Fees & Required Documents

Complete the online application.
Pay the Application Fee: $95 for U.S. citizens and permanent residents, $130 for international applicants. Application fees are non-refundable.

Payment Options
- Online: Follow payment instructions at the end of the application or on your Admissions Portal.
- Check or Money Order (through a U.S. bank): Make payable to "UNCSA" and include your full legal name. Mail payment and fully legible name of the applicant to the Office of Admissions.
- International Applicants: Use Flywire to pay the application fee online through an international bank or pay by check or money order through a U.S. bank as listed above.
Upload all Required Application Documents to by the deadline.

Please note: If applying to two different UNCSA art schools (Dance, Drama, Music and Visual Arts), complete a second application and pay the second application fee.
