News & Stories

Students and faculty from D&P took part in USITT25, the annual conference of the U.S. Institute for Theatre Technology. Their participation included student recognition and faculty presentations, highlighting the school's ongoing engagement with the national performing arts design and technology community.

Steve Alford is transforming jazz education at UNCSA with a fresh approach centered on improvisation. As chair of the jazz and contemporary department, he's launched a jazz minor, created new ensembles, and founded community jam sessions and a festival--all aimed at fostering collaboration and expanding jazz's reach beyond the conservatory.

UNCSA 2024-25 performance season, "UNCSA Presents," continues this April with highlights including the two-act drama "Les Belles-Soeurs," presented by the School of Drama; the contemporary opera "Ballymore," presented by the A.J. Fletcher Opera Institute; and Spring Dance, a presentation of new works and reenvisioned classics from the School of Dance.

UNCSA Days of Giving, April 2-3
Artists thrive when they are supported holistically: mentally, physically and academically. As they grow, they will push the boundaries of what is to discover what could be. This year, donors can choose to give to the UNCSA Fund, which supports our university’s areas of greatest need, or give directly to 40 different funds all over campus.
