TraciAngel Woodard is a 21-year-old Afro-Latina dancer based along the East Coast. Her early years of dance in Fayetteville, North Carolina exposed her to multiple styles including ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip hop, and tap, starting at the age of 2. With 19 years of dance experience, she has explored various techniques such as Cunningham, Limón, Horton, Trisha Brown, Paul Taylor, and Countertechnique.
Upon returning to the States after four years of training abroad, she transitioned into the competitive dance circuit and eventually enrolled in the prestigious University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in contemporary dance. For TraciAngel, dance serves as her chosen medium of expression, allowing her to embrace each opportunity to share her artistry with the world and connect with other artists.
At UNCSA, she benefits from a strong foundation of connections under the mentorship of choreographers, including new works from Darrell Grand Moultrie, Pearlann Porter, Dean Endalyn T. Outlaw, Ashley Lindsey, Catherine Meredith, Brenda Daniels, Emily Nicolaou, Chris Yon and Britt Juleen Gonzalez. Including repertoire works of Jośe Limón “There’s a time” staged by Sean Sullivan, Lotto in Spring by Ming-Lung Yang and Yvonne Rainer “Trio A” staged by Brittany Bailey.
She also has had additional training opportunities, such as immersing herself in Countertechnique through the One Body One Career Intensive in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Embracing the phrase “Everything happens for a reason,” TraciAngel remains strong in her belief in the power of resilience and adaptability moving forward into her career.
