Kyriaki Christoforou (she/her) was born and raised in Limassol, Cyprus where she started dancing at the age of four. Her early dance training consisted of a wide range of movement styles including ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip-hop, and folk. In 2019, she had the privilege of representing Cyprus as a soloist at the World Dance Olympiad in Moscow, Russia.
Kyriaki moved to the United States in 2021 to attend the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where she studied Cunningham, Limón, Countertechnique, Partnering, Improvisation, Composition, and West African. During her time at UNCSA, Kyriaki’s performance experience has included repertory by José Limón and Robert Battle, as well as new works by Gina Patterson, Emily Nicolaou, Brenda Daniels, Ashley Lindsey, and Darrell Grand-Moultrie. Additionally, Kyriaki has had the opportunity to spend her summers exploring the movement language of Gaga as well as learn repertoire by choreographers Medhi Walerski and Ohad Naharin. Kyriaki is slated to graduate in May 2025 with a BFA in Contemporary Dance. She then hopes to further her career by joining a contemporary dance company as she continues to research and develop her artistic identity.
