Jasmine Hurt (she/her) started at an early age in the performing arts, growing up in Charlotte, North Carolina and Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Now, actor, singer, artist and filmmaker is a lover of arts, painting, traveling, gem mining and the beach! She’s the former Miss Ponte Vedra and Miss Senior High, and placed in the top ten for Miss Florida’s Outstanding Teen as part of Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Competition.
During these formative years, she was heavily involved in community theatre, starred in Sister Act at Theatre Jacksonville (non-for-profit) and earned the President’s Volunteer Service Award. This early involvement formed her beliefs and fueled her passion about enriching and educating the community through the performing arts and diversity programs!
Currently, Jasmine is a senior at UNCSA in Winston-Salem, NC pursuing her B.F.A. in Acting with an expected graduation date in May 2024. Highlighted past credits at UNCSA include Yvette Poitier in "Mother Courage and Her Children" and Heidi Rodewald/ensemble in the musical "Passing Strange."
Additionally, Jasmine has been involved in creative projects including her own productions of short films, "NUMB" and "A Love Letter to My Bush," that she wrote and co-directed. She is actively involved with the student organization, Artists of Color, where she has held the position of Vice President of Advocacy for the past two years.
In November 2023, she will be involved in a workshop/reading for a newly commissioned play, "On God," in collaboration between Wake Forest University, School of Divinity, NC Black Repertory and Wake the Arts. Jasmine will be reading for the lead role, Mahalia!
Upon graduation, she would like to pursue a professional career in acting in theatre, film, television and multimedia streaming platforms while giving back to the community in the performing arts!
