Jack Cerminaro

Jack Cerminaro (he/him) is currently pursuing a B.F.A. in Contemporary Dance at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA). He is from Dayton, OH, where he began his dance journey in elementary school, training in ballet, tap, jazz, musical theatre, and contemporary. Outside of dance class, Jack would indulge in his creative spirit, spending hours in his room, exploring his early choreographic ideas. In middle school and high school, he chose to expand his dance training with the Dayton Ballet and traveled to Cincinnati, OH to refine his classical and contemporary skillset. In Jack’s senior year of high school, he joined the Dayton Dance Conservatory Company. There, he collaborated with and performed works by many choreographers and found joy in creating his first dance piece, which was performed in the company’s Spring Repertoire Concert.

During his time at UNCSA, Jack has trained in Cunningham, Limón, Countertechnique, Release Technique, and West African and has performed in proscenium settings, site-specific works, and film. His performance experience includes repertory works by José Limón, Robert Battle, Shen Wei, and Merce Cunningham and original works by Brenda Daniels, Pearlann Porter, Emily Nicolaou, Rena Butler, Jim Vincent, & Catherine Meredith. Jack has dedicated his time to fostering his choreographic artistry inside and outside of UNCSA composition classes to make works of his own. After graduation, Jack hopes to join a dance company and further explore his passion for choreography.
