Gianna grew up in the South where she developed her love for the arts and sweet tea. She attended the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, a residential arts high school, where she studied acting. She now attends UNCSA and is working toward obtaining her B.F.A. in directing.
She is most interested in telling the stories of underrepresented communities and using art as a lens to encourage folks to reexamine their preexisting belief systems. She values open, honest stories and brave, bold collaboration in all of her work.
Recent directorial projects include developing a new work by Joplin Gagné entitled "Alma Jean," as well as revisiting a time-honored text with Tennessee Williams’ "Talk to Me Like the Rain and Let Me Listen…" This semester she will be directing an excerpt from Edward Albee’s "Three Tall Women" as part of UNCSA’s Fall 2024 Director’s Festival.
