Georgia Rood

A native of the greater Atlanta, Georgia area, Georgia Rood grew up surrounded by the arts and the woods. Georgia began her early training in ballet at Atlanta Ballet at two years old. This eventually led her to studying at the Georgia Ballet Conservatory, Joffrey Ballet School, Terminus Modern Ballet Theatre, and now the University of North Carolina School of the Arts where Georgia is pursuing their Bachelor of Fine arts in Contemporary Dance.

Always wanting to find more ways to explore and evolve, Georgia is drawn to expression through dance, choreography, performance, and film. She has had the opportunity to perform works by José Limón, Ashley Lindsey, Brenda Daniels, Darrell Grand Moultrie, Ming-Lung Yang, and Lauri Worril-Biggs. Georgia has also created works for Terminus Modern Ballet Theatre students and UNCSA dancers in both film and dance. In addition to performing and creating dance works, Georgia assisted Brittany Bailey in the setting of Yvonne Rainer’s “Trio A” and the notation of the piece for that project. Georgia takes inspiration from her childhood of dance and being immersed in nature when exploring her creative works and is currently collaborating as a See/A/Change Fellow at UNCSA.
