Devon Drybread

Devon Drybread was born and raised in Cocke County Tennessee and grew up an active member in his community theater company. Beginning his dance journey in the eighth grade, Devon started taking classes at “Dance Elite”, studying Jazz and Musical theater under Marley Whitmer and Penny Solomon. He later joined the competition team and took contemporary and ballet classes.

In 2021 Devon left home to attend the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. In addition to their BFA, he has had the opportunity to study under Brenda Daniels, Ashley Lindsey, Kira Blazek-Ziaii, Ming Yang, Abby Yager, and been in pieces created by Rena Butler, Shen Wei, Merce Cunningham, Pearlann Porter, and fellow students. Devon has trained at intensives from Body Traffic and Salt Contemporary Dance, and attended American Dance Festival and Perry-Mansfield.

UNCSA has also sparked his passion for choreography and has been given the chance to choreograph many student works. Devon hopes to join a contemporary dance company upon graduation and to continue learning and choreographing.
