The Creative Writing Minor
 
The Creative Writing Minor offered within the Division of Liberal Arts provides opportunity for students in all arts areas to engage with an additional focus of creative study while at UNCSA. The minor supports students who wish to explore innovative ideas and tell their stories through rigorous practice and engagement with the medium of creative writing, including working in fiction and non-fiction, storytelling, poetry, memoir, playwriting, narrative genres, personal essays, and other writing forms. 
 
Courses and Credit Hours Required for the Creative Writing Minor:
 
The Division of Liberal Arts minor in Creative Writing requires 15 approved credit hours at the 2000 level or above. 
 
Students must take a minimum of 12 credit hours within Division of Liberal Arts at the 2000 level or above: 
 
9 credit hours in DLA Writing [WRI] Courses: courses designated as WRI in the bulletin.
 
3 credit hours in DLA Literature [LIT] Courses: courses designated as LIT in the bulletin. 
 
The additional 3 credit hours required for the Creative Writing Minor must come from one of the following options: 
 
3 credit hours in DLA Writing [WRI] or DLA Literature [LIT] at the 2000 level or above.
Or
3 credit hours of approved Arts Course(s) at the 2000 level or above.
Or
3 credit hours of approved course Transfer Credits at the 2000 level or above.
