Unrestricted Music/Liberal Arts Credits¹

¹ Unrestricted Music or Liberal Arts Credits may be fulfilled at any time during the four years of the program using any course offered through the School of Music or the Division of Liberal Arts.

² Lessons earn either 2 or 3 credits, determined by the concentration teacher with approval of the Dean of the School of Music (or designee).

³ All music students must perform in ensembles as assigned, even beyond the minimum. Minimum requirement: 6 semesters of Orchestra (MUS 5110); 2 semesters of Chamber Ensemble (MUS 5180). Orchestra assignments are made by the orchestra director in consultation with the major teacher; Chamber Ensemble assignments are approved by the major teacher.

⁴ Symphonic Repertoire: Violinists take MUS 3340; Violists take MUS 3350; Violoncellists take MUS 3360; Double Bassists take MUS 3370.

⁵ Liberal Arts elective credits may be fulfilled using any course offered through the Division of Liberal Arts.

⁶ Music elective credits may be fulfilled using any course offered through the School of Music except for ensemble courses.
