"The Domestic Pig"
The Domestic Pig is a short that follows interactions between three different people who all seem to live mundane lives. The interactions between the three people are very far from concrete. The way I pieced the film, I tried to provide the viewer with a task of dissecting the three people’s interactions. The piece is chronologically shifted around therefore leaving the viewer in the dark. Some shot’s are replayed and some are diced up and flipped out to make it seem the same, much like the characters lives. The approach to this film was very interesting for me. I went in forcing myself out of my comfort zone and I think it did well for me. Any usual film I make you can suspect like 30 long takes and monotonous whip pans. But going into this I wanted to see if I could evoke a style of film through other areas , such as sound design, pace, and editing. Doing that I think expanded my horizons in filmmaking and taught me super valuable lessons, with that being said I couldn’t be more grateful for the lessons I have learned during my senior thesis.
