ArtistCorps Position Description

Location: Winston-Salem, North Carolina

Timeframe: August 15, 2024 – May 5, 2025

 

ArtistCorps seeks UNCSA student artists and recent graduates who have a desire to use their talents to serve local communities.  ArtistCorps members will use their existing skills in the arts and will develop skills in instruction, planning and implementing engagement activities, administration, communication, and other responsibilities as determined in conjunction with service locations. 

Service includes:

  • Developing and implementing arts instruction and engagement activities.
  • Spearheading arts and service-related projects at service locations.
  • Collaborating with other ArtistCorps members and service location employees.
  • Developing and utilizing good communication and administrative skills.
  • Assisting with program assessment and evaluation. 

ArtistCorps members must have the flexibility and commitment to serve 5 to 20 hours weekly during the 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. timeframe during the workweek.  There will be mandatory trainings in addition to the service hours. Renumeration is approximately $16 an hour.

Qualifications and characteristics of ArtistCorps members:

  • Current students must be C2, C3, C4 or graduate level and maintain good standing at UNCSA.
  • Have an interest in arts-based community service and a deep proficiency in one or more area(s) of the performing, visual, and motion-picture arts.
  • Commitment to serving diverse individuals and communities, especially youth and senior citizens.
  • Excellent communication skills and capacity to maintain service portfolio, write monthly stories, and create social media posts on behalf of ArtistCorps.
  • Must have transportation to off campus service locations.

  • An interview will be scheduled once materials have been received.
  • If selected to be a member, the applicant must agree to and pass a criminal history background check. Additional background checks might be required by the service locations.

ArtistCorps applications will be accepted from April 8 through May 24, 2024, and interviews will be scheduled on a rolling basis. Those selected for the 2024-25 ArtistCorps member cohort will be notified by June 3, 2024.
